Inca Music: Condor Pasa, Interactive Mind Map


El Condor Pasa is a typical Inca dance, based on authentic Incan folk melodies. Around 1916, Peruvian composer Daniel Alomia Robles notated this popular traditional melody and used it as the basis for an instrumental suite. Pre-Incan tomb 1700 years old found in Peru


A Canadian-led team of archaeologists has unearthed the 1,700 year-old tomb of a leader of the pre-Columbian Moche culture in northern Peru, the scientists said.
Canadian archaeologist Steve Bourget said the tomb was discovered in the Ucupe dig 39 kilometers (24 miles) from Chiclayo on Peru's northern coastal plain.

Inca surgeons in ancient Peru commonly and successfully removed small portions of patients' skulls to treat head injuries, according to a new study.

Bandurria is the oldest Peruvian archaeological site, says expert

Bandurria may rival Caral as oldest citadel in Americas.

The archaelogical site of Bandurria dating back 3200 BC (located in the province of Huaura, Lima) is considered the origin of ancient American civilization, said archaeologist Alejandro Chu Barrera, director of the Archaeological Project of Bandurria.
“Several radiocarbon datings done in the United states confirmed that Bandurria dates back from 3200 B.C., while Caral dates from 2900”, said the archaeologist.

Alpamayo is one of the most conspicuous peaks in the Cordillera Blanca mountain range of the Peruvian Andes in the Ancash region. Elevation 19,511 ft (5,947 meters).
Its name comes from Quechua Allpa = earth Mayu = river: muddy river. In 1966, the Alpamayo mountain was declared "the most beautiful mountain in the world" by UNESCO.

The palace Hatunrumiyoc (Cuzco) was built by Inca Sinchi Roca, the most important thing about this palace is the Lienzo pétreo which is a beautiful wall which bends backwards, built out of green stone, here you will find the famous Stone of Twelve Angles. The twelve corner-angles fit perfectly all surrounding blocks. The stones were positioned without the use of mortar and have withstood centuries and earthquakes.

Oldest Temple, Mural in the Americas Found in Peru

Finally unearthed after 4000 years, the Peruvian fire temple
The discovery, made by Peruvian archaeologist Walter Alva in a looted site known as VentarrĂ³n, is located in Peru's Lambayeque valley, some 500 miles (804 kilometers) from the capital, Lima.

"We have found what we believe is the oldest mural in the Americas," Alva, director of the Royal Tombs of SipĂ¡n Museum, told National Geographic News in an interview. November 12, 2007.

Machu Picchu and the Flower of Life


The Lost City of Incas, Machu Picchu is without doubt the most recognizable symbol of Inca Civilization. "The Inca Trail", as it is known now, was the Royal Highway that led pilgrims and officials of the Empire to the Sacred City of the Incas.
The Flower of Life is a geometrical figure composed of multiple evenly-spaced, overlapping circles, that are arranged so that they form a flower-like pattern with a sixfold symmetry like a hexagon.

Chankillo or Chanquillo is an ancient monument complex in the Peruvian coastal desert. The ruins include the hilltop Chankillo Castillo, the nearby Thirteen Towers and residential and gathering areas. Chachapoyas Mummies


The Chachapoyas, also called the Warriors of the Clouds, were an Andean people living in the cloud forests of the Amazonas region of northern Peru from 800 A.D to about 1475 A.D until they were conquered and exterminated by the Incas led by Tupac Yupanqui.
A 600-year old mummy from the Chachapoyas culture was recently found in the mountains of Kohechan, in the Peruvian northern department of Amazonas.
